After a thorough investigation, including the medical examiner’s report, the cause of death was determined to be suicide.
“As a general practice, the Tampa Police Department does not issue a press release regarding suicide investigations to avoid causing additional distress to the families of those affected. However, due to the misinformation circulating online regarding this specific investigation, it is necessary to provide accurate information and address the harmful consequences that can result from posting unfounded speculation,” a spokesperson for the Tampa Police Department said.
The Tampa Police Department extends its condolences to Mederos’ family and friends.
