A St. Thomas woman is facing assault charges following a clash that police say involved two people attending the city’s Santa Claus parade and over a dispute over the blocking of one family’s position.

A 62-year-old from St. Thomas was arrested Saturday evening during the annual parade, St. Thomas police said in a news release Sunday.

According to police, a dispute broke out between a woman and another spectator because a family’s view was obstructed. The woman punched the victim in the face and knocked him to the ground, St. Thomas police said.
