Houston crash: 2 dead, 2 injured on SH 6, Briar Forest

Two people were killed and two others injured in a wrong-way crash in west Houston on Sunday night, police said.

The crash occurred at SH 6 and Briar Forest around 11:40 p.m.

Police say the driver of a Crown Victoria traveling west on Briar Forest attempted to turn right but ended up turning into the northbound lanes heading south.

The driver, realizing his mistake, attempted to correct it, but a southbound Mercedes struck his vehicle, police say.

Police say the driver of the Crown Victoria and a backseat passenger in the Mercedes died at the scene. Two other people from the Mercedes were taken to hospital.

After the initial crash, police said a gold Toyota, also traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, struck the Mercedes, causing more injuries.

Both crashes are under investigation.
