Judge Denies Sean Combs Bail: Injunction

NEW YORK – A judge denied bail for the rapper known as “Diddy” on Wednesday, according to a court filing, after he was accused of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Judges had already denied bail to the rapper – real name Sean Combs – twice and prosecutors alleged in their opposition to the third bid that the rapper and producer had contacted witnesses and used unauthorized communication platforms while in jail.

“For the following reasons, Combs’ motion is DENIED – no condition or combination of conditions can reasonably ensure the safety of the community,” federal Judge Arun Subramanian said in an order.

Subramanian also denied Combs’ request to be released from detention to prepare his defense.

“Combs has not met his burden to demonstrate that release from custody is necessary to prepare for trial,” the judge wrote.

Federal prosecutors allege Combs sexually assaulted women and coerced them into drug-fueled sex parties using threats and violence.

He has denied pleading guilty to all charges, and his criminal trial is currently scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.

Wednesday’s ruling follows a Combs court appearance late last week.

Combs’ attorneys argued that a defendant in another prominent federal sex trafficking case, former Abercrombie CEO Mike Jeffries, received bail that should apply to their client.

“The nature and circumstances of the violations are substantially different,” prosecutors wrote to the court on Friday.

“There are no allegations that Jeffries committed violent acts not related to human trafficking or that he used firearms during the time charged. The charges against Combs include both.

“With respect to the crimes charged, Jeffries is not charged with racketeering. Combs, on the other hand, is accused of running a racketeering enterprise.”

Prosecutors have previously indicated that more evidence remains to be examined and that more charges could be added to the indictment against Combs.
