Cow shelter caretaker shot dead by land robbers in UP

Aligarh:�A cow shelter manager was shot dead by two masked assailants while on his way home from a market here, police said on Friday. The incident took place near Amarpur Nahra village in Lodha area, they said.

The 40-year-old victim, Dinesh, had complained to authorities in August about threats from four persons after he thwarted their attempts to allegedly usurp a piece of panchayat land adjacent to the shelter.

Of the four, three have been identified as Udaiveer Singh, Nepal Singh and Pinka, police said, adding that efforts are on to identify the fourth suspect.

Circle Officer DN Mishra said the victim’s brother has filed a police complaint accusing the four men of killing Dinesh.

Dinesh, who lived in the ‘gaushala’ complex, was returning from a market in Lodha Township when the incident took place. He was shot twice, once in the head and once at close range, police said
