1 dead, 1 in custody after shooting in Laveen

PHOENIX (AZFamily) – One man is dead and another is in custody after an early morning shooting Friday in Laveen.
Phoenix police said officers responded to the shooting at a nearby home 50th Avenue and St. Anne Roadsouth of Southern Avenue just after 1 a.m
Officers arrived and learned that a man, identified as 27-year-old Luis Eduardo Beltran Arteaga, had been shot by someone he knew. A family member took Arteaga to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police say witnesses told officers the suspect, identified as 23-year-old Jose Luis Fajardo, ran into the neighborhood and was found near the home and arrested.
Detectives say Fagardo and a woman got into an argument earlier in the evening near 47th Avenue and Van Buren Street, where he fired a gun multiple times. The woman was not injured and returned to the home near 50th Avenue and St. Anne Road. According to Phoenix police, Fajardo forced his way into the home around 1 a.m., where he found Arteaga and shot him.
Fajardo is facing multiple charges for the two incidents. An investigation is underway.
