Driver charged in North Miami Beach collision that left injured teen identified – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – Police have identified and charged a 21-year-old woman in connection with a hit outside a shopping plaza in North Miami Beach which sent a 15-year-old boy to the hospital.

North Miami Beach police said Johnyce Keels struck the victim Wednesday afternoon as he rode his bicycle on the sidewalk along Northeast Sixth Avenue, near 167th Street.

Surveillance images captured the moment of impact.

Detectives said Keels drove away moments later, but officers were able to locate and arrest her.

The young victim, Juan Pinilla, told 7News on Thursday he was awakened after the crash. The teen spent a night in a hospital and is currently recovering at home.

Keels is charged with leaving the scene of the accident without serious injury.
