Man arrested after pistol whip attack in DC

WASHINGTON, DC – A man was arrested Tuesday evening after allegedly attacking another man with a gun during a confrontation in Southeast Washington.

The incident happened on the 2700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. around 7:25 p.m. Avenue, Southeast. According to police, the victim was struck in the head several times with a firearm after a verbal altercation with the suspect. The suspect then discarded the weapon in a nearby trash can.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by DC Fire and paramedics. Officers were able to quickly track down the suspect and confiscate the discarded firearm.

David Baker, 51, who police say has no fixed address, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a pistol without a licence, possession of unregistered ammunition, possession of an unregistered firearm and the fact that he was a felon in possession of a firearm.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine additional details surrounding the altercation.
