Relative patient attacks security guard for causing delay in opening hospital door

Mumbai: A security guard at Raksha Hospital in Malad was brutally attacked by a patient’s relative on November 28 after the hospital door was opened late. Malvani police have registered a case against the suspect, who reportedly has a criminal record.

According to police, the incident took place when the suspect took his wife, who had overdosed on sleeping pills, to the hospital for treatment. “The delay in opening the door angered the suspect, who started assaulting the security guard. The situation escalated into violence when the suspect took the security guard’s keys and attacked him on the head with a deadly weapon,” a police officer said .

After the assault, the hospital management filed a complaint with the Malvani police station. Although no one else was injured, some doctors were reportedly threatened during the incident. The suspect has now apologized to the hospital. However, police are continuing to investigate and appropriate legal action is being taken.
