Video shows shocking moment vehicle hits police officer in Toronto during car theft investigation

York Regional Police have released a shocking video of an officer who was struck by a suspicious vehicle during an investigation in Toronto last month.

On April 30, York Regional Police (YRP) located two stolen vehicles in the area of ​​Overlea Boulevard and Thorncliffe Park Drive.

With the assistance of the Canine Unit, police arrested two suspects. One suspect was arrested after a short foot chase, while a second entered a vehicle and crashed into an officer and police vehicle, according to police.

The suspect eventually crashed his vehicle into a nearby building and fled on foot, police said.

“Fortunately, the officer was not seriously injured. He was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and was released shortly thereafter,” police said in a May 3 news release.

YRP released a video of the incident, where the vehicle can be seen hitting the officer.

Ahmed Abdul-Wasee, 18, of Toronto, faces 11 charges, including theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply with a recognizance.

The outstanding suspect is described as a man approximately five feet eight inches tall, with brown skin, a thin build and black hair.
