During the summer semester, The Shorthorn has approximately 20 staff members, 8 of whom are editors. Editors assign and edit content, as well as hire and manage their staff members.

Meet The Shorthorn's Summer 2024 Editorial Team



Christine Vo is the new editor-in-chief and senior journalist. She manages the entire editorial team and is responsible for the content direction of the publication. Vo loves taking photos of anything and everything for the sake of an Instagram photo. She loves trying new things, the company of others and can always use a Coke to cheer me up.

Hannah García is the new editor-in-chief and a senior in journalism with a minor in creative writing. She will assist whenever needed by managing daily production runs, newsletters, and supporting other section editors. García is a maximalist at heart, collecting trinkets and souvenirs wherever he goes. Usually drinking coffee or a Monster, they enjoy listening to music, podcasts, and deep diving on YouTube.

Pedro Malkomes is the new editor-in-chief and a young journalist. He is responsible for all news and life content. Malkomes enjoys playing soccer with his friends and enjoying the latest video games. He also likes to ride his bike and listen to unnecessary music.

Amanda Aldridge is the new associate editor and a senior in journalism. She will help manage the press office with the editor-in-chief. Aldridge is a caffeine addict at heart, who loves crocheting, listening to music, and playing the guitar and ukulele. When she’s not writing, she’s watching shows or exploring new lakes with her friends.

Jinelle Sanchez is the Editorial Office Manager, majoring in English and minoring in Creative Writing. She will lead an upcoming team of editors who will fact-check and proofread each article before publication. When she’s not working, she enjoys reading romance novels, rewatching “Tangled,” and listening to an absurd amount of music (only occasionally playing artists other than Taylor Swift).

Haley Walton is the new design editor and senior interactive media editor. She will lead a team of designers and illustrators to design visuals that complement news articles, as well as designing the look and feel of the newspaper. Walton enjoys playing video games, listening to orchestral music, and trying every creative way possible to tell a story.

Fran Gomez is the new engagement editor and photography major. She will oversee all social media platforms and the newsletter. Gomez enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping for antiques, and going for walks with her husband and puppy. She also loves taking photos and singing her heart out to Bruno Mars.

Ronaldo Bolaños is a multimedia editor specializing in photography. He will oversee a group of creatives responsible for producing visuals for the newspaper, including photos and videos. Bolaños likes to capture moments that cannot be duplicated. He loves learning, wandering unknown places and regenerative agriculture.
