PETER Obi, LP Labor Party candidate for the 2023 presidential election, is saddened by the expulsion of Osun State indigenes residing in Lagos by the government of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“Every Nigerian, regardless of their state of origin or place of residence, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. Let us never forget that we are all Nigerians, united by a common destiny. And that it is our collective duty to defend the values ​​of unity, equity and justice, and to oppose any form of discrimination or injustice. Our constitution guarantees every Nigerian citizen the right to reside and earn their livelihood in all parts of the federation.

“I implore all Nigerians to remain calm and vigilant while awaiting the outcome of the investigation. Meanwhile, security agencies in Osun State are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of the evicted youths.

“Together, let us fight for a Nigeria where every citizen enjoys dignity and respect, regardless of their origins, place of origin or residence. A new and different Nigeria is indeed possible! Let us strive to achieve this in unity.

Realnews reports that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has expressed shock over the expulsion of citizens of his state by Lagos State in a statement issued on Monday, May 6 by his spokesperson, Rasheed Olawale.

The statement quoted Governor Adeleke as saying that he had conveyed his sentiments to his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Babajude Sanwo-Olu.

While interacting with the Lagos State Governor over the incident, Governor Adeleke expressed shock at the development, urging Governor Sanwo-Olu to look into the matter and put an end to it if the report is true, the statement said.

He quotes Governor Adeleke as saying: “I have spoken about this issue with my brother, Governor Sanwo-Olu. He too was surprised and denied ever authorizing such an action.

Governor Sanwo-Olu promised an immediate investigation to shed light on the situation. The Lagos team will keep us informed as quickly as possible, the statement said.

“I then direct our security agencies in Osun to mount surveillance in and around Ilesa to track the deported youths and their destinations.

“I will keep our colleagues informed of this development. I appeal to residents to remain calm while security agencies carry out surveillance, he said.
