Ben Simmons’ 2024 Met Gala outfit inspires jokes and memes from NBA fans

Ben Simmons’ Brooklyn Nets aren’t in the playoffs, so he has plenty of time to continue his efforts off the court.

Like attending the 2024 Met Gala.

Simmons arrived at Monday’s event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, wearing an outfit that included a prominent clock:

The clock makes sense given that the theme of this year’s Met Gala is “The Garden of Time,” according to CNN’s Jacqui Palumbo. Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth were co-hosts of the celebrity extravaganza.

While basketball might take a backseat with so many celebrities in attendance, NBA fans were certainly ready with Simmons’ jokes:

Simmons hasn’t been on the court much lately. He has only played in 15 games this season and 42 games in 2022-23 after missing the entire 2021-22 campaign. The LSU product hasn’t played more than 58 games since he was an All-Star in 2018-19 for the Philadelphia 76ers.

He is expected to be ready for the 2024-25 season, where he will look to make an impression with his play on the court in addition to what he wears on it.
