Maha DyCM questions Shiv Sena (UBT) chief’s silence on Congress chief’s allegations

Mumbai, May 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and star BJP campaigner Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday questioned Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray’s silence following the latest surprising allegations leveled by his party’s alliance partner, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, on the killing of former Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief and IPS officer Hemant Karkare in the Mumbai terror attacks November 26, 2008 in the metropolis.

Addressing a press conference at the party office here, he said Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly Vijay Wadettiwar had said that Hemant Karkare was not killed by the Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab and accused him of speaking the language of Pakistan.

Despite this, Uddhav Thackeray, who is allied with the Congress, remains silent on the issue, he pointed out and challenged Thackeray to state whether he agrees with Vadettiwar’s allegations.

It was proved in the trial court that Karkare was killed by Kasab’s bullet, he reiterated and said that all questions regarding the Mumbai terror attacks had been clarified in the court.

After passing sentence on Mumbai terror attack accused Kasab, Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray appreciated the role played by Public Prosecutor (PP) Ujjwal Nikam, he recalled and asserted that Uddhav Thackeray kept silence because of his helplessness.

The BJP leader recalled that the November 26 terror attacks were a conspiracy by Pakistan and the western neighbor was stunned when this was proven in court, he said.

Fadnavis accused Wadettiwar of speaking the language of Pakistan and questioned whether the Congress leader was in touch with anyone in Pakistan.

Wadettiwar notably claimed that Karkare was not killed by Kasab but by a pro-Rashtirya Swayamsevak Sangh policeman during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai.
