Track and Field Set for Yale Elite Last Chance Meet, IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After a successful weekend at the 2024 Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Harvard athletics will travel to New Haven, Connecticut for the Yale Elite Last Chance Meet, and to Fairfax, Virginia for the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor athletics championships.

WHAT THERE IS TO KNOW:

  • The Crimson traveled to Princeton, New Jersey, this past weekend as Harvard student-athletes won nine individual Ivy League titles.
  • The men’s team finished in second place in the team standings, while the women’s team took third place.
  • As the NCAA East Region preliminary round approaches, Crimson student-athletes are hoping to improve their times to qualify for the showpiece competition.
  • The reigning NCAA women’s 1,500m national champion, senior Maia Ramsden has the fastest women’s 1,500m time in the Eastern Region and the country this season. Ramsden ran a time of 4:07.30 at the Wake Forest Invitational, the current Ivy League record in the event.
  • Another double national champion, junior Kenneth Ikeji sits atop the Eastern Region men’s hammer throw performance list with a throw of 74.47m (244’4″). Ikeji’s mark also ranks sixth nationally this season .
  • A qualifier for last season’s NCAA Outdoor Championships, junior Izzy Goudros is third in the women’s heptathlon this season in the Eastern Region, as she scored 5,765 points at the Duke Invitational.
  • In the women’s 400 hurdles, junior Chloe Fair is 12th with a time of 56.86 Heps. On the men’s side, the seniors Aaron Shirley is ninth with a time of 50.11 from last weekend.
  • Two Crimson places top 10 in women’s 800m in East Region. Junior Victoria Bossong is third with a time of 2:00.92, while freshman and qualifying for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships Sophie Gorriaran is sixth with a time of 2:01.60.

FOLLOWING:

The Crimson will travel to Lexington, Kentucky on Wednesday, May 22 for the 2024 NCAA East Region Preliminary Round.
