Sofas and objects to launch a botanically inspired collection

Every May, London comes alive with an abundance of beautiful flowers, foliage and plants as the Chelsea Flower Show returns to the city. Green thumb enthusiasts come from all over the world to find ideas for their green spaces – but this prestigious event is also a great source of inspiration for interior designers.

This year, British bespoke furniture and fabrics brand Sofas & Stuff is launching a new collection designed to pay homage to the Flower Show, in collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Spring florals may not be revolutionary, but the brand puts a new spin on the tried-and-true aesthetic with a set of fabrics inspired by horticultural art and the rich history of botanical exploration.

When designing the new range, the Sofas & Stuff team looked into the extensive archives of the RHS Lindley collections, which cover over 500 years of garden history, art and science.

Sofas & Stuff founder Andrew Cussins describes the collection as telling “a unique and authentic story about humanity’s enduring connection with nature”. The fabrics draw inspiration from a number of horticultural paintings, prints, sketches and woodblock prints by artists including Dutch illustrator Pieter Van Kouwenhoorn, botanical artist Henry Moon and English naturalist Mark Catesby, among others. others.

Each of the designs can be used in the brand’s wide range of sofas, chairs, beds, ottomans and cushions, or purchased as stand-alone fabrics that can be made into curtains or other furnishing projects.
