City of Amarillo invites community to meet finalist for City Manager

AMARILLO, Texas (KMAR/KCIT) — Amarillo city officials said they are inviting the community to meet the final two qualified candidates for the city manager position.

According to a COA press release, the Amarillo City Council narrowed the choice to Matthew Allen and Grayson Path after a process that included 77 applicants.

Allen, currently City Manager of Garden City, Kansas, said, “The City of Amarillo offers me a chance to apply a set of core organizational leadership and community development principles that I have developed over the course of my career in a new, larger and more exciting setting. . Amarillo is a community that is proud of its history, but also demonstrates a willingness to change and meet the needs of current and future residents.

Grayson Path – City Manager Finalists for the City of Amarillo, Texas

Path, currently City Manager of Paris, Texas, said, “Amarillo is a vibrant, independent, thriving and dynamic community, the hub of the Texas Panhandle and immediate surrounding states. I am confident that my character, experience and skills are a close match with the ideal candidate for the position of Amarillo City Manager.

Officials said the event would provide the community with the opportunity to meet the finalist in an informal setting. COA added that residents will have the chance to ask questions and hear directly from the candidates about their plans for the city’s future.

“The selection of our next city manager is a pivotal moment for the City of Amarillo,” said Mayor Cole Stanley. “We are committed to ensuring our residents have a voice in this process and encourage everyone to participate and meet the people who could move our city forward.”

The COA said the match is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 3 at HODGETOWN Stadium.

The release stated that “the City Council will consider community feedback as a crucial part of its final decision-making process.”
