New Delhi: Nikki Haley, former Republican presidential candidate and former United States ambassador to the United Nations, sparked controversy after signing Israeli artillery shells with the inscription “Finish them!” » during his visit to Israel. The photograph showing Haley writing the message on the missiles was shared Tuesday on X by Danny Danon, an Israeli MP and former ambassador to the UN. Danon accompanied Haley on her tour.

Haley wrote the message amid a relentless Israeli offensive in Gaza that has claimed the lives of more than 36,000 Palestinians, including an estimated 15,000 children. On Tuesday, Israeli forces bombed a tent camp housing displaced Palestinians in a designated “safe zone” in Rafah. At least 21 people, including 13 women and girls, were killed in the attack.

Even as the death toll from the Gaza war rises, Haley blasted US President Joe Biden’s administration for withholding arms to deter an Israeli attack on the southern Gaza town of Rafah. “What America needs to understand is that if Israel is fighting our enemies, how can we not help them,” Haley said, emphasizing his message on the missile that read: “America loves Israel.” “America must do whatever Israel needs and stop telling it how to fight this war. During her visit, she met with survivors of the October 7 Hamas attack, which left around 1,200 people dead and 253 others kidnapped.
