Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron find themselves caught in a steamy romance

Your mother dating your movie star boss is a recipe for… romance? This is exactly what happens to Zara Ford (Joey King) in Netflix’s upcoming romantic comedy A family matterdirected by Richard Lagravenese and written by Carrie Solomon.

Zara catches her mother, Brooke (Nicole Kidman), dating the handsome and much younger Chris Cole (Zac Efron). Zara immediately passes out while recovering from seeing her boss and mother in the middle of a sexy date.

“Name the movie I won a Teen Choice Award for,” Chris asks Zara, who raises her middle finger in response. Zara is not at all cool with her mother dating Chris. “He will hurt him and I will have to kill him,” she said.

Despite Zara’s vocal disapproval, Brooke and Chris just can’t stay away from each other. “I’ve been waiting for you forever,” Chris says breathlessly to Brooke during one of their passionate dates.

Chris plans a romantic dinner just for Brooke, and they quickly begin to fall for each other. “I’m starting to feel things I never thought I’d feel again, not since your dad,” Brooke tells her daughter.

Zara just can’t understand her mother’s new romance, and that’s where Kathy Bates steps in. “Your mother, she could also be a woman. It’s his life,” Bates’ character tells Zara.

A family matter marks the reunion of Efron and Kidman. The actors previously starred together in Lee Daniels’ 2012 film.
