Geri Horner was left embarrassed when she shared a birthday message for fellow Spice Girls star Mel B.

The singer known as Ginger Spice, 51, took to social media on Wednesday to point out that Mel is 49 years old.

However, fans were quick to point out that the post contained instructions to Geri’s publicist, PR guru Pippa Beng, implying that she does not upload content herself.

Sharing a trio of images of herself with Mel via Instagram, Geri included a message which began: “I have sent images to Pippa and this wording asked her to edit them if necessary.”

A second paragraph added the birthday message, which read: “Happy birthday @officialmelb! Hope you have an amazing day!”

As a result, Geri was mercilessly mocked by other social media users, while the post was later updated to remove the first sentence.

The rest of the Spice Girls were on hand to share celebratory messages to mark Mel’s birthday, with Victoria Beckham sharing a photo of the group from 1997, writing: “Happy birthday @officialmelb!!! Kisses.”

Emma Bunton shared a series of snaps of herself with Mel on her Instagram feed and wrote: “Happy birthday @officialmelb My sister Spice, one of a kind and special in every way. Love you to pieces, Emma and the family.”

While Sporty Spice Mel C shared a heartfelt message on her own Instagram feed, writing: “Go Scary, it’s your birthday! Happy birthday @officialmelb Melanie Brown MBE, we’ve shared so many amazing memories, I hope It’s not too long until we do some more I’m so proud of you and all the amazing work you’re doing, I love you to pieces,” and added the hashtag #friendshipneverends. .
