9-1-1 Saved After Surprise Cancellation By Jumping Channels As Spinoff Fate Revealed

9-1-1 was saved after its surprise cancellation, while spinoff series 9-1-1: Lone Star also had its fate revealed.

As Deadline reports, the franchise’s flagship show received new life from ABC after Fox canceled it after the sixth season, while Lone Star will remain on Fox for its upcoming fifth season (also via Deadline) .

In a statement confirming the move, Fox said: “It has been an honor to be the founding network of 9-1-1 and we are grateful to…the cast and crew, as well as 20th Television for delivered such an impactful series to Fox. We wish them well after the end of the final season of 9-1-1 on Fox.

Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, which owns ABC, was thrilled to welcome the series to his network, saying, “Thanks to the creative drive of (the team) as well as the talented cast, 9-1-1 has been one of network television’s most defining and original dramas over the past six seasons.

“We are honored to bring it to the esteemed group of series on ABC. It’s a privilege to keep 9-1-1 in the family with 20th Television as producer, and we look forward to telling more thrilling and uplifting stories about these beloved characters on our airwaves,” he added.

Lone Star, which stars Rob Lowe and Liv Tyler in the lead roles, is currently in its fourth season, with showrunner Tim Minear recently explaining the return of Andy Favreau as Pearce Risher.

“We love Andy. He’s so funny. We’ve been talking about the idea of ​​our medical team taking on a private ambulance company for a while,” he said. “We also love (Adam Ray as Jacques, Paragon’s boss), he’s hilarious too.

“So we thought, ‘What if we put these two villainous characters in the same world? What if Pearce actually worked for Paragon and for Jacques?'” he explained.

9-1-1 And 9-1-1: Lone Star both broadcast on FOX and Hulu in the United States and Heaven’s Witness UK.
