Free Haircuts and Styles Offered to Memphis Neighbors

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — For those in need of a little TLC, Memphis City Councilwoman Jana Swearengen-Washington is teaming up with the Tennessee College of Applied Technology and the Neighborhood Hero Group to offer haircuts and free hairstyles.

They host a series of events where neighbors who don’t have easy access to hairdressers can get free cuts and styles.

The events will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 and Thursday, June 6 at the Glenview Community Center. It’s at 1141 S. Barksdale Street.

Organizers said the aim was to promote confidence, self-esteem and wellbeing within the community.

Boys and girls under 18 will have priority. They ask for hairstyles for girls and women, please have your hair washed before arriving.
