Skyted presents its new product concept “Whispering Headphone” at AIX, building on the successful launch of the Skyted Mask in 2023.

Officially designated the Skyted 320, the headset allows calls that cannot be heard around the caller without a mask.

“The average background noise inside a cabin is around 75 dB,” notes Stéphane Hersen, Managing Director of Skyted. “If you speak above about 50 dB but below the ambient noise level, our microphone will pick up your voice but those around you will not be able to hear you. The called person will be able to hear you because the system can transmit voice at approximately 73 dB.

If a caller does not want the background noise of their location to be heard, the Skyted 320 can create “green” background noise. The system will be wireless and feature headphones on the headset for incoming responses. The total weight of the production version of the Skyted 320 will be around 40 kg.

Hersen reports that while the Skyted mask is still available, the company envisions its use much more in the defense arena. “We already have over a thousand sales that have generated over 200,000 hours of use.”
