Once completed, the new facility will accelerate groundbreaking mental health research and serve as a beacon of hope

TORONTO, May 29, 2024 /CNW/ – The Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is proud to announce the new Temerty Discovery Center, named in recognition of a $75 million gift from the Temerty Foundation. Currently under construction at CAMH Queen Street West site, the Temerty Discovery Center is part of the fourth and final phase of a 25-year redevelopment plan. When completed, it will be a state-of-the-art facility where CAMH researchers will revolutionize our understanding of the brain and mental illness.

With 385,000 square feet of collaborative space, the Temerty Discovery Center will bring together CAMH’s research programs under one roof, stimulate and accelerate new breakthroughs that will transform the future of mental health and, most importantly, inspire the hope for people living with mental illness. As a magnet for recruiting and retaining the world’s best talent, the Temerty Discovery Center will house more than two-thirds of CAMH’s more than 1,400 researchers and create the capacity to increase the number of scientific researchers by 43 percent, employees, students and interns. hundred.
