Buddy Hull ready to take on Epping

For the first time since his 2021 Top Fuel rookie season, NHRA driver Buddy Hull returns to the New England Nationals, May 31-June 2, at New England Dragway, this time as Funny’s rookie driver Because, behind the wheel of Jim. Dunn Racing.

“Looking back on my first participation in this event, I realize how far I have come,” said Hull. “In 2021, this race was one of the first NHRA National events I attended. Almost everything has changed since then. I now have the chance to compete in Funny Car instead of Top Fuel and for the legendary Big Jim. I have an amazing wife and we will be welcoming a baby boy very soon. I don’t think I could have imagined back then where I would be today, both on and off the track. Life is crazy like that.

In the last two races, Hull qualified in 13th place. He made several solid overtakes during qualifying which makes the next race at Epping very promising.

“We are continually moving the needle in the right direction, solving problems with new parts and making adjustments based on data,” Hull said. “We’re going to continue to try to get races from A to B, while still putting on a good show for the fans. When I was at Epping three years ago the fans were incredible. Honestly, they’re the main reason I’m so excited to come back. At every race so far this year, fans have come into my pits, telling me that they remember me from my rookie season, and that they are just as excited as I am to see where I’m at. am now. NHRA has the best fans in the world, I will say that over and over again.

This weekend, Hull will race with a Blaze Exhaust Probes paint scheme on his nitro Funny Car, representing one of Jim Dunn Racing’s season sponsors. Since 1996, Blaze has been a leading full-service temperature sensor manufacturer providing solutions for even the most demanding applications. Their reputation for creating the most robust sensors available has made them a top choice in the industry.

“I’m excited to represent a company this weekend that has committed to sponsoring us all season,” said Hull. “I don’t make these commitments lightly because we literally couldn’t do what we do as a racing team without companies like Blaze stepping in to support us. Blaze has been a sponsor of Jim Dunn for a few years now, and I hope that with my addition as a driver, they will continue to see the value in our partnership. We are going to make them proud this weekend.

In addition to Blaze Exhaust Probes, Hull will represent season-long sponsors Vertex Roofers and General Contractors, Solid Start/True Brand Products, Lescure Mechanical Services, Crow Safety, Compass Facility Services, KGC Construction, Koppl Pipeline Services, Mooneyes, Good Vibrations. Motor sports, power tools and Wiley X.

“We’re in for an epic weekend in Epping,” Hull said. “Now that we’re past the Memorial Day holiday, it’s officially summer. In my head, summer and racing go hand in hand. We’ve had a good start to the season, but now we’re in the thick of things. Last month we had quite a bit of down time with only one race in May, and I can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on in this time off. Summer 2024 is going to be fun.

Hull and the Jim Dunn Racing team will conduct two qualifying races on Friday, May 31 and two qualifying races on Saturday, June 1 at New England Dragway. The 16 fastest Funny Cars in the field will advance to race day to compete for a Wally on Sunday, June 2. The first elimination round begins Sunday at 11 a.m. EST. Fans can watch the finale on FS1.
