Fan favorite series canceled by Max after one season

It’s a tough market for TV shows in the streaming age. As such, it was just announced that a fan-favorite series on Max was canceled by the streamer after just one season. It’s undoubtedly disappointing for fans of the show, but Max said in a statement how grateful they are to have been involved in the series.

As you can read below, a statement was released by Max regarding the show’s end. It’s pretty amazing how far she’s come in just one season, though, because she’s actually had multiple homes over the years.

It was actually an initial move at Netflix in 2019, as the outlet noted, before moving to The CW and ultimately to Max where it received a series order in 2022.

Here’s what they shared regarding the series (via Variety) and how it won’t receive a second season to continue its story:

“While Max will not be moving forward with a second season of ‘Girls on the bus“We are grateful to have partnered with the immensely talented Amy Chozick, Julie Plec, Rina Mimoun, as well as the teams at Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television,” Max said in their statement. “We are so proud of this powerful found family story and the celebration of journalism, in all its forms. We thank them and our unrivaled cast for all their incredible work and collaboration.

The Max series canceled Girls on the bus is said to be inspired by co-creator Amy Chozick’s own experiences as a political reporter on the campaign bus with a number of presidential candidates. For this particular series, she followed a total of four journalists played by Melissa Benoist, Carla Gugino, Natasha Behnam and Christina Elmore respectively.
