Pipeline vandal’s wife arrested with 2 guns in Rivers, husband and others flee

This is contained in a statement from the NSCDC Public Relations Officer (PRO), Babawale Afolabi Saturday in Abuja.

According to the PRO, the corps received intelligence regarding pipeline vandals residing in the Idia/Ogburu waterfront settlement, located around a multinational company in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni; Onelga, Rivers.

He said the operation carried out by the Commander General’s Special Intelligence Brigade (CG SIS) led to the arrest of the suspect while others, including her husband, are currently at large.

Afolabi said the suspect confessed during interrogation that the firearms and evidence found in the shack where she was apprehended belonged to her husband who had been working in the illegal oil trade for two years.

He added that items recovered from the site included: two locally made guns, a generator, stainless steel saws, thread sealing tapes, shovels and shovels.

Four different welding machines, drills, wellhead valves of different sizes, cables, two working smartphones, four non-working phones, and a power bank, among other items.

“The suspect and all exhibits have been handed over to the Rivers Command Intelligence Unit for further investigation and possible prosecution.”

The spokesperson urged citizens to refrain from any act that could sabotage the nation’s economy.

“The culprits would be forced to face the wrath of the law. The public is therefore advised to engage in meaningful activities and cooperate with the government,” he said.

Afolabi urged Nigerians to provide credible and timely information to security agencies whenever there is any doubt or suspicion regarding security activities in and around their domain.

He said the Corps, as the lead agency in protecting all critical national assets and infrastructure, remains committed at the national, state and local levels to ensuring the safety of lives and property.
