DAYTON − Kiera Archer didn’t know how her weekend was going to go.

The Chillicothe junior wasn’t sure how she would fare against her competitors in the 400 meters at the OHSAA state track and field meet. In the days leading up to the competition, she was excited, but ready for whatever result she got.

This effort earned him a place on the podium. After reaching the semifinals Friday, Archer completed the 400 meters in 57.89 to take seventh place and earn All-Ohio honors at the Division I state track and field meet Saturday.

“At the start of the season I didn’t know how the rest would go, but when I got to 57 at Thomas Worthington I was like, ‘Okay, this is going really well,'” Archer said. “It was by practicing all the time and continuing to work that I was able to get here. All my teammates and coaches encouraged me and the support really helped me.”

Archer will be back though. She doesn’t want this to be her last appearance at the state meet. As soon as she stepped onto the Welcome Stadium track, she felt at home. With another season left in his career, Archer is banking on a return to state.
