Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30, 1966) is an American professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005 and is scheduled to compete again in 2024. Nicknamed “Iron Mike” and “Kid Dynamite” early in his career. And later known as “the baddest man on the planet”, Tyson is considered one of the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time. He was the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world from 1987 to 1990. Tyson won his first 19 professional fights by knockout, including 12 in the first round. By winning his first belt at the age of 20 years, 4 months and 22 days, Tyson set the record for the youngest boxer to win the heavyweight title. He was the first heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles simultaneously, as well as the only heavyweight boxer to hold them consecutively. The following year, Tyson became lineal champion by knocking out Michael Spinks 91 seconds into the first round. In 1990, Tyson was defeated by underdog Buster Douglas in one of the greatest upsets in boxing history.

Fight canceled

The former world champion suffered a medical emergency due to an ulcer that developed during a flight this week.

Netflix, which was scheduled to broadcast the fight, released a statement announcing the cancellation.

It reads: “Unfortunately, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will not face each other on July 20 as planned. Tyson’s recent ulcer has limited his ability to fully train over the next few weeks.

“The fight will be rescheduled for a date later this year, at which Mike can return to training without limitations and both fighters will have equal time to prepare for this unique showdown!”

Tyson required medical attention from paramedics on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles earlier this week.

He felt nauseous and dizzy, although his publicist said he felt “much better” after the treatment.

Iron Mike claimed on social media that he felt 100% and was ready to face Paul.

What happened to

Mike Tyson’s highly anticipated match against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has been postponed after Tyson suffered an ulcer earlier this week, Tyson’s publicist and Netflix announced Friday.

“I want to thank our fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. “Unfortunately, due to the progression of my ulcer, my doctor advised me to lighten my training for a few weeks to rest and recover,” Tyson said in a statement.

“My body is in better shape than it was in the 1990s and I will return to my full training regime soon. Jake Paul, it may take you a while, but eventually you will leave boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to delivering an unforgettable performance later this year.

Training 2024

Mike Tyson may have a little more in the tank than many think.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Tyson would make his return to the ring against Jake Paul on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The event, which is expected to be streamed live on Netflix, was immediately criticized for pairing the 57-year-old former heavyweight boxing champion with a man 30 years his junior, who has a history of knocking out opponents older. Even oddsmakers quickly installed Jake Paul as the big Tyson betting favorite, but everyone could soon be counting on Tyson.

On Wednesday, Tyson posted a workout video to his social media showing “Iron” Mike surprisingly sharp and powerful for a man with an AARP card.

Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion and holds the record for the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title, winning his first belt at age 20 years and four months. He retired from the sport in 2005, but returned in 2020 for an exhibition boxing match against Roy Jones Jr.

Paul has recently fought against professional boxers in a bid to legitimize his presence in the sport, defeating Andre August and Ryan Borland in December and March respectively.
