New Yorker accused of traveling to Pittsfield to meet child he was chatting with online

A New York man was arrested Thursday after prosecutors said he traveled to Pittsfield to meet a minor he was communicating with online and his bail was set at $100,000, prosecutors said .

David Stypa, 62, is charged with inciting sexual relations, child under 16, attempting to commit a felony and two counts of disseminating obscene remarks to a minor, the district attorney’s office said of Berkshire County, Timothy J. Shugrue, in a statement.

Stypa was arrested following an investigation into online communications he is accused of having had with a minor under the age of 16, according to the press release. According to prosecutors, Stypa was traveling to Pittsfield to meet the juvenile at the time of his arrest.
