Pueblo PD announces new priority for burglary and theft calls

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) – The Pueblo Police Department (PPD) is taking a new approach to how officers will respond to certain emergency calls.

PPD said in a statement Monday that due to call volume and current staffing, some calls will be prioritized over calls like burglaries and thefts if an imminent or active threat is not present.

The department said in the release that the community needs to know that if you are in danger during a theft or burglary, they will work hard to have an officer contact you. However, for other issues, dispatchers will instead need to prioritize and send a community service officer to respond to those calls.
