The Tibi Resort 2025 ready-to-wear collection becomes tennis-sporty

Last season, Tibi founder and creative director Amy Smilovic used sporty details in clothing to enhance their functionality. For the resort, Smilovic and her senior vice president of design, Traci Bui-Amar, took the concept further.

At a preview, Smilovic said his inspiration board included “images that we loved, things that we loved and bringing it all together.” One of those inspirations was 1920s tennis – a sport that played an important role in Smilovic’s life growing up and has recently been the subject of global hype in fashion and film via the “Challengers”.

“There’s something so classic and refined about it, but it’s a serious sport. I think that combination of real courage, but it’s very beautiful at the same time… it says a lot about what’s happening in the world,” Smilovic said.

The collection certainly wasn’t entirely tenniscore, but nods to the sport could be seen through preppy blazers, varsity knits, and cardigans with custom Tibi patches (featuring the company’s original green elephant logo). 1997 mark); stunning pleated skirts, which were actually pleated panels attached to sheer skirts and mini skorts with carabiners, and a handful of stylish tracksuits.

She continued to double down on the quintessential Tibi DNA of the functional dress with refined knit indigo denim bottoms in the brand’s classic shapes, like the Sid and the Barrel Leg, which looked like denim sweats, but much more chic. “I talk a lot now about not bifurcating your life,” she said of the collection, noting a versatile, go-anywhere “perfect down coat.” Color, a tool described in Smilovic’s book, “The Creative Pragmatist,” was also in play.

“If you want to feel more edgy and classic and preppy, there’s this combination,” she said of the black-and-white ensembles, “but if you want to feel very casual and relaxed, then this is this combination”, from “Ring 3”. (colorless colors) calming purples and oranges,” she said. “I think it’s important to give customers these tools.”
