The Board of Directors (BoT) of Buena Vista (BV) will meet soon on Tuesday, June 11. The council will begin with a work session featuring reports from Planning Director Joel Benson and Public Works Director Shawn Williams at 6 p.m. their regular meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Pinon Room of the BV Community Center (715 East Main).

The Chaffee Housing Authority (CHA) voting committee is expected to present information to the BoT on two proposed ballot measures.

One would increase the sales tax by half a percent to create a consistent funding stream for the SHC over the next ten years. The other “de-Bruce” the CHA, allowing them to keep state, local and intergovernmental funding above the TABOR caps, without impacting county taxpayers.

The CHA provides more information about these ballot measures on its website, ChaffeeHousingAuthority.org.

Items up for discussion include a review from Water Advisory Board (WAB) member Jeff Ollinger on the board’s functions and direction for 2024.

The BoT will also consider a resolution authorizing the Recreation Department to enter into an agreement for general construction of Billy Cordova Memorial Park. Groundbreaking for the park is expected to take place after the Billy Cordova Memorial Park Family Run and One Love Endurance 5K on Saturday, June 15.

The final item on the agenda is an ordinance for council to consider that would free up road right-of-way located in the Bristol-Allgeier Minor Subdivision. The property is located west of South Pleasant Avenue and north of Meadow Lane.

The consent agenda includes minutes from the May 1 planning and zoning meetings, the May 28 BV BoT, the March 19 and April 16 airport boards, and the Water Advisory Board meetings of the May 16. It also includes the police chief’s report, the public works director’s report and two resolutions.

The first resolution would approve the public improvement agreement with Crossman’s Development for The Crossing subdivision. The second would approve a proposal with Ehlers Investments to conduct a request for proposal (RFP) process for banking and treasury services.
