Drew McIntyre Explains How To Stay Quiet During Promo Battle With CM Punk On WWE Raw After Vince McMahon Reference

Drew McIntyre returned to a particular segment of WWE Raw where he forced himself to remain silent after being provoked by CM Punk.

On the March 25 episode of Raw, McIntyre and Punk exchanged insults before WrestleMania. McIntyre took shots at Punk, including making reference to the fact that although Punk lives a simple life, he is still in rehab for his injuries. As McIntyre mentioned that he was the chosen one, Punk asked the three-time world champion who gave him that name. With the comment referencing Vince McMahon, whose name is banned from WWE TV due to the sexual misconduct allegations that forced McMahon to resign, McIntyre did not fire back as Punk continued his promotion.

Recalling the events in an interview with Metro’s Alistair McGeorge, McIntyre detailed his state of mind at the time and how it was best for him not to respond to Punk’s comment:

“What was going through my mind was, can I respond right away, and would that be a good idea for our business? “And I have to make a decision because we’re going OK Corral style, dumping rounds on each other. I did what I thought was right not only for the company, but for our list, and held my tongue that night. I had a couple of things in mind that would melt the Internet, but could harm us in different ways.

McIntyre also added that if he started making comments that could be detrimental to his own career or the company as a whole, it should be taken as a warning:

“If you see Drew McIntyre coming out of those lines and swearing and saying things like ‘wow, this is potentially going to hurt himself, or the company, or the roster,’ then that’s because I’ve lost it.”

In conclusion, McIntyre added that his “offline” comments are extremely unlikely to happen, as he has been dealing with Punk for several years:

“You have to be professional and good at your job,” he said. “If anything, it makes it more convincing because you know…we just don’t like each other.”

Stipulation added to Drew McIntyre match

On June 15, McIntyre will once again have the opportunity to become world champion when he challenges Damian Priest for the title in Glasgow, Scotland. With his most recent victory, Drew McIntyre now has an advantage with the stipulation attached.
