Leeds United attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson has broken his silence on his decision to return to the club after a year on loan in Germany.

Los Blancos are expected to have a new attacking look in the upcoming 24/25 season due to spending being nailed down, while some return from loans to help strengthen Daniel Farke’s squad.

Brenden Aaronson is one of those, returning from Union Berlin and aiming to put the troubles aside after leaving the club in 2023 under rather unsavory circumstances.

Brenden Aaronson speaks out on transfer decision to join Leeds

Aaronson’s decision to return to Elland Road is one that few fans would have expected, given the reception to his and other loan terms generated in the summer of 2023.

However, it appears the USMNT man has been very clear in his desire to return to Elland Road to restore a positive standing with the white fans.

Speaking to The Athletic, the 23-year-old shares that he had no doubts about returning to West Yorkshire for next season:

“It was a pretty easy decision. I felt like I had unfinished business in Leeds.

Happy to have Aaronson back?

What made Aaronson return to Leeds?

It seems Farke’s vision for the attacking midfielder is what convinced him to return to Leeds and contribute to promotion, as he continued:

“It was an awesome conversation. The role he sees me playing, the games he has watched, the way I fit into the team and, most importantly, the things I can improve on.

As for his wishes for the upcoming campaign, it’s simple: get Leeds back into the top flight as quickly as possible:

“It’s a chore. It’s a challenge that I want to take on. All I care about is getting Leeds United back to the Premier League.

He concludes with this message for the fans:

“I know how big the club is, how much it means to the people of the city. When I come back, I will do my best. All I want is to get Leeds back into the Premier League. I can’t wait to play at Elland Road again in front of our fans.

Actions will speak louder than words for Aaronson at Leeds

These comments are all very good for Aaronson’s return to Leeds as he looks like he means business, but that needs to be confirmed in the Championship.

If he had multiple offers on the table to leave us again, you’d bet he’d accept them rather than come back, so this new commitment is rightly superficial to fans right now.

However, the best way for him to convince many of us who are still quite skeptical of his mentality is to put his head down in pre-season and shine in the EFL.

Willy Gnonto won over the fans without needing to address anything, he clearly apologized to Farke and that was enough for the manager, and his form recovered thanks to the work he did – I hopes Aaronson can do the same. .
