The iconic Fiat Panda gets a funky new design and electrical upgrade as part of the brand’s new global range. The Fiat Grande Panda EV merges “Italian personality” with a new retro style. Check out the first images below.

Fiat unveils the new Grande Panda in electric and hybrid versions

Fiat presented five new Panda-inspired concepts at the Geneva Motor Show in February. The brand announced that its first, a city car slightly larger than the Panda, would be unveiled in July.

As promised, Fiat unveiled the new Grande Panda this week. It will be available in electric or hybrid version.

The Grande Panda is the first in Fiat’s new global range based on a multi-energy platform. The platform also underpins the new Citroën e-C3, which starts at $25,000 (€23,300).

Fiat’s new electric vehicle is expected to be similarly priced, making it one of the most affordable electric vehicles when it goes on sale.

Inspired by the Panda of the 1980s, the Grande is a compact family car measuring 3.99 meters (157″) long. It’s even smaller than the Chevrolet Bolt EV at 163.2 inches long.

The new Panda has a retro and robust look thanks to its wedge-shaped design, robust wheel arches and dynamic curves.

Fiat says the vehicle’s “Italian personality” shines through in its design and distinctive features. Unique pixel-style headlights arranged in a “chessboard pattern” and giant “Panda” lettering on the side add to the retro look.

With a special design, the new Fiat Grande Panda EV “shapes the future for now”. It will be available in electric and hybrid options.

Fiat will launch the new Grande Panda in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, kicking off its new global range. It will be the first of a new Fiat vehicle launched each year until 2027.

While it’s unclear if the Grande Panda EV will land in the United States, Fiat’s first electric car, the 500e, was launched earlier this year. Starting at $32,500 (excluding destination), the Fiat 500e is one of the most affordable electric vehicles in the United States.
