Michael Chandler shares message after UFC 303 cancellation: ‘Conor McGregor was never the safe bet’

“Iron Mike” shared a message.

Yesterday (Thursday June 13, 2024), after a week of guesswork and speculation, Conor McGregor against. Michael Chandler was officially canceled due to McGregor dealing with an undisclosed injury.

The new main event is Alex Pereira against. Jiri Prochazha for the Light Heavyweight title (check out the rest of the new card here).

Chandler, however, has been relatively quiet throughout the fallout from the UFC 303 main event. He has tweeted quotes every other day to discourage people, but has not directly addressed the speculation. The former Bellator champion shared a message on Instagram through his sponsor, megafitmeals, a day after the cancellation.

“(Conor McGregor) has never been a safe bet as an opponent, he has always been the most at risk,” Chandler wrote. “Perhaps the highest reward… but the greatest opportunity. There is no right or wrong in business…you only take risks to grow or stay comfortable where you are.

Embrace uncertainty. Look for opportunity. Taking calculated risks…That’s what (Chandler) does. And if it doesn’t go as planned…redirect the class to something even more awesome. Our respect to the man who represents the world of fighting better than anyone we have ever known. WITHOUT FEAR. NO LIMITS. NO EXCUSES. Make hard work your passion – no matter who’s on the other side of the punch.

Chandler was criticized for sitting around for two years waiting for his golden ticket to a huge payday, but he still doesn’t seem to have any regrets.

Let’s hope we don’t have another two years to wait for “Notorious.”
