Elon Men’s Soccer announces 2024 schedule

ELON, North Carolina – Elon University men’s soccer team and head coach Marc Reeves announced the program’s fall 2024 schedule on (date TBD). The Phoenix’s 20-game slate will include 12 home games at Rudd Field and four contests against teams that have made the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

“We have put together another very strong schedule and we are excited to see our group compete this fall,” Reeves said. “We are playing some of the best non-conference teams and the CAA will once again be a challenging league with great programs, coaches and players. We had a strong spring semester and believe our group of returning players has the experience necessary for this to be a successful season. Our new additions will need to adapt quickly as they look to make a positive impact.

Elon begins the fall campaign with friendlies at home against Cape Fear on August 9, at NC State on August 13 and at home against VCU on August 17. The regular season begins Thursday, August 22 against Florida Gulf Coast at Rudd Field before another home game against Radford on August 26 awaits the Phoenix before the end of the month at Coastal Carolina on August 29.

The Phoenix open September by hosting Grand Canyon on September 2 before beginning CAA play against Drexel on September 7 at Rudd Field. The Dragons went 9-2-5 overall last fall while reaching the quarterfinals of the CAA tournament.

A week later, Elon begins a two-game tour, the first in Delaware for a meeting against the Blue Hens on September 14 in another championship game. A few days later, the Phoenix travel to Winston-Salem, North Carolina, for a matchup at Wake Forest, the first of four matches against 2023 College Cup participants on the schedule. This will be the first meeting between the Maroon and Gold and the Demon Deacons since 2017 and the first in Winston-Salem since winning a 1-0 against the then seventh-ranked Demon Deacons in 2015.

Elon returns to home court on September 21, hosting Stony Brook. The Phoenix eliminated the Seawolves in the quarterfinals at last year’s CAA Championships. A trek to Hofstra follows for the maroon and gold on September 28 as Phoenix faces the co-champion of the CAA regular season and tournament.

Three straight home games open the start of October for the Phoenix with fellow Triad rival Piedmont and 2023 NCAA Tournament team High Point coming to Elon on October 1. William and Mary travel to North Carolina on October 5 before all three games. The homestand ends with a matchup against ACC foe Duke, which will be the fourth and final team Phoenix faces that has made the 2023 NCAA Tournament on its schedule.

Two road games are next on the schedule for the Phoenix with Elon traveling I-40 for a contest at UNCG on October 15th. The two-game road trip ends with a visit to Monmouth for a CAA semifinals rematch against the Hawks. on October 19.

October ends with back-to-back games at Rudd Field as Elon hosts intrastate foe Charlotte on October 23 to close out its non-conference slate. Northeastern will face Phoenix on October 26 for its home finale before Elon travels to Campbell for the regular season finale on November 2.
