Charities come together at Luna Park to organize a “coaster-thon” for a good cause

A Coney Island icon turned 10 on Friday — and what better way to celebrate than with a coaster-thon?

Not only was it a thrilling event, it was also a charity event.

The Luna Park crew hosted 10 different charities. The charity that was able to ride the Thunderbolt, celebrating its 10th anniversary, and seven other roller coasters – the most in two hours – won a big prize: $10,000. Second place received $5,000, third place received $3,000, and each remaining charity received $1,000.

First prize was won by none other than Coney Island’s own, the Coney Island Sharks!

Charities from here at home, like the winning Coney Island Sharks, and far and wide, like Give Kids The World in Florida, say they love turning a fun event like this into something that helps people for which their charities work hard.
