Donald Trump celebrated his 78th birthday on Friday, highlighting the advanced ages of the two major party candidates running for president of the United States this year.

President Joe Biden, at 81, and Trump, at 78, are the oldest candidates seeking office.

According to several media outlets, the Biden campaign used the opportunity to send a scathing birthday message to Trump, calling him a “crook, a failure and a fraud.”

The message read: “Happy Birthday, Donald. You are a crook, a failure, a fraudster and a threat to our democracy, our economy, our rights and our future.”

In a particularly harsh note, the Biden campaign added: “In the name of America, our first gift on your 79th birthday: to ensure that you are never president again. »

Additionally, the Biden administration shared a mocking list of Trump’s 78 “accomplishments.”

This list included his legal troubles, his business difficulties, his handling of the 2017 Charlottesville white nationalist rally, his call for the death penalty for the Central Park Five, a video referring to a “unified Reich” and his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.

Additionally, he criticized his efforts to overturn the Affordable Care Act and his taking credit for ending Roe v. Wade.

President Biden also posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) along with a video contrasting his policies with those of Trump.

He wrote: “Happy 78th birthday, Donald. Tell it from one old man to another: age is just a number. This election, however, is a choice.”

In response, Trump spoke to a crowd in Florida on his birthday, calling Biden too fragile for a second term.

“Our country is being destroyed by incompetent people,” Trump said.

He also suggested that all presidents should submit to aptitude tests and criticized Biden for “not knowing where he is.”

Despite this, Trump urged his supporters to vote early, by mail and in person on Election Day, while paradoxically declaring, “I’m actually telling our people we don’t need your vote.” We have so many voices. »
