Marlon Wayans has a direct message for those upset by his Pride Month photos

Actor and comedian Marlon Wayans has sent a direct message to those upset about his recent Pride Month photoshoot: please unfollow him.

Wayans, 51, has a trans son. On Friday, he posted photos to his Instagram to mark Pride Month, to show support for his son and the broader queer community.

“Happy PRIDE to all my LGBTQ+ people,” Wayans said in the caption of the first post. Captured by photographer Parrish Lewis, Wayans is draped in a pride flag. Perhaps to clarify that this wasn’t a coming out message, he added: “PS, I’m STRAIGHT…well, according to my child, a CISGENDER man.” I just love and support my people.

Many people praised the post, saying it was great to see a straight father so publicly supporting his gay child.

Todrick Hall was among those who commented. He said: “As someone who is a part of the community and has worked closely with you, I just want to thank you for standing up for the community before and after you knew your child was a part of it! We need more black fathers like you!

“Proud of you for posting this with your chest on.” I love you and happy pride 🏳️‍🌈”

Janelle Monae wrote: “Thank you!! Happy pride to us!

However, the post was also flooded with negative comments. Wayans responded by posting more photos from the shoot and doubling down.

“Yeah and just for the HATE MONGERS… I’m posting ANOTHER one.

“As the father of a child from the LGBTQ+ community, I show him my support. Zero fucks up what people think. If I lost you… GOOD! Your hateful asshole never liked me in the first place. How can you love someone when you’re too busy judging. Some of you are funny. I’m a troll. I will be posting all day.

“I hope to lose all the ignorant subscribers”

He then got closer to some of his critics, sending a direct message to one disappointed commenter. Accusing Wayans of failing as a father, the comedian retorted: “I should ask my niece to fuck you with her strap-on.”

In another post, Wayans said, “Having people being so homophobic causes pent up feelings/desires,” Wayans said in the caption of his fourth post. “Bruh, don’t live like that. To go out. Be you. That’s what PRIDE is…acceptance.

His applause continued on X, where he said, “I hope to lose ALL THE ignorant, small, hate-filled FOLLOWERS.” I don’t fuck with that type of energy. Let’s just keep it 100. I don’t fuck with you, so don’t fuck with me. Respect #goodbye”

“The trash came out by themselves.”

Wayans’ post attracted thousands of comments. We are happy to report that many enjoyed his display of allyship. Yet the hatred was real. At one point, it was reported that he lost around 10,000 followers on Instagram.

We don’t know how many he had before posting on Friday, but he currently has 6.8 million followers on Instagram, and many people say they first started following him after his allyship display.

Last November, Wayans opened up about being a father to a trans son, Kai, on The Breakfast Club. He admitted that he initially found it “very painful” when Kai came out to him. However, it has since evolved and grown.

“As a parent, I just want my children to be free. I want them to be free of spirit, free of thought, free to be themselves. …The more you live your truth, the happier your existence.
