Nana Patole’s foot washing act by party worker caught on camera, BJP rips Congress apart

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole found himself in the firing line after a video of his act of foot washing by a party worker surfaced on social media, drawing sharp criticism from the share of Internet users.

In the viral video, Congress president Maha can be seen having his mud-stained feet and legs washed by a party worker. We also do not see him showing any reluctance as the latter bows before him to wash his feet with water.

The incident allegedly took place on Monday in Wadgaon in Akola district, where he was going to attend his birthday party, organized by a party worker. When he returned from the event, his feet became soiled with mud. As the party member washed his feet with water, this was filmed by someone in the crowd.

The senior Congress leader’s disgraceful and distasteful conduct has also left the party red-faced and inviting diatribes from the BJP.

The BJP launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its Maharashtra unit chief for brazen abuse of power and also accused it of promoting a “feudal mentality”.

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala wrote to X: “The Congress has a feudal shehzada nawabi mentality. They treat the public and workers like ghulam and themselves like kings and queens.

He also pointed out that such shameful act happened when the party was in opposition and added that one can imagine what would happen when it was in power.

“Nana Patole and the Congress must apologize for insulting the public,” he demanded.

Under fire, Nana Patole, confronted by journalists for having “forced workers into slavery”, declared that he came from an agricultural community and that he had no such intentions.

“Thanks for publicity,” he said in mocking remarks while accusing the BJP of making a molehill over the controversy.
