NSU announces 2025 matchups with Minnesota and Cincinnati

NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State football team will become very familiar with the Midwest in 2025.

The Demons announced two games for 2025 on Wednesday – both of which will see Northwestern State travel to the Midwest to face two standalone conference opponents.

The Demons will travel to Minnesota to face the Golden Gophers on September 6, 2025. The game will be the Demons’ first against a member of the Power Four conference since they faced eventual national champion LSU in 2019. It will be the first NSU clash against Big Ten conference member.

A week later, on September 13, Northwestern State will travel to face Big 12 member Cincinnati for the first time since the 2013 season and the third time in program history.

The matchups will mark the Demons’ second and third trips to the Midwest over a four-season span, following a 2022 visit to Eastern Illinois.

“This will be both an extremely difficult milestone and a special opportunity for our program as we take it to places we have never been,” said Athletic Director Kevin Bostian. “The ability to experience new adventures is an integral part of being a student-athlete. These two games in the 2025 season check those boxes and will give our student-athletes, staff and fans the chance to do just that. “

Ticket information for the games will be available at a later date.
