Kate Douglas went full throttle in the 200 breaststroke preliminaries at the Olympic trials, clocking 2:19.66. She was just 0.36 seconds off her own American record in the event and had her second-fastest performance ever. Additionally, she also qualified for the semifinals as the top seed with 5.95 seconds.

Douglass’ swimming broke an American record at an international qualifying meet, the previous record being 2:20.38, achieved by Rebecca Soni in 2009.
