Brandy Norwood fights with her mother-in-law for A24

Brandy Norwood has a tougher stepmom situation than most expectant parents in first trailer for A24’s psychological horror film The front room.

The feature film from directors Max Eggers and Sam Eggers is scheduled to hit theaters on September 6. Andrew Burnap, Neal Huff and Kathryn Hunter also star in the film which focuses on a couple with a baby on the way whose lives change drastically after they allow her husband’s mother-in-law (Hunter) to stay in their home.

“This is my house,” Norwood says defiantly in the trailer. She jokes: “Being cooped up with a newborn and a mother-in-law can drive anyone crazy. »

At one point in the trailer, Burnap explains, “She thinks the Holy Spirit is possessing her and giving her power. »

Later, Burnap told Norwood, “She says you hit her.” » This causes Norwood to exclaim, “She wants you to think it was me.” »

Sam Eggers and Max Eggers, brothers of filmmaker Robert Eggers (The Northerner), wrote and directed The front roombased on the short story of the same name by author Susan Hill.

Max Eggers co-wrote Robert Eggers’ 2019 film Lighthouse. Sam Eggers was a production assistant on Robert Eggers’ 2015 film. The witch and later worked as a screenwriter and editor on the feature documentary Olympia about the actress Olympia Dukakis.

Norwood, who has horror experience thanks to his role in the 1998 sequel I still know what you did last summerrecently appeared alongside Heather Graham in the Netflix holiday film Best. Christmas. Never! and appears in the upcoming Disney Channel movie Descendants: The Rise of Red.
