The player has verbally agreed terms with another club.

Liverpool are set to confirm the departure of their first official player under Arne Slot, according to a new report.

Slot officially took charge of the Reds on June 1 following the departure of Jurgen Klopp and took part in his first interview with the club earlier this week.

Liverpool announced their shortlist at the start of June, although it is unclear whether the Dutchman will have made a significant contribution given the departures of Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara had already been announced before he took over. .

The shortlist included confirmation that a new contract had been offered to long-serving goalkeeper Adrian, who signed for Liverpool in 2019.

The offer came as a surprise to Reds fans, given the Spaniard has not featured in a competitive match since appearing in the season-opening Community Shield in August 2022.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Adrian has now verbally agreed to the terms to join Real Betis as a free agent, turning down the offer to stay at Anfield.

Romano claims the 37-year-old has already given the deal the ‘green light’, with only formal steps required before the transfer is announced in January.

There has yet to be any official confirmation that he has rejected Liverpool’s contract offer, meaning he could still stay at Anfield if a deal with Betis falls through.

However, last month Adrian indicated he would be open to returning to his home country if the opportunity arose this summer.

He told Movistar Plus: “I would like to return to La Liga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle.

“I’m always ready to compete. I feel very good, despite being 37 years old. You know that goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, if you haven’t had any serious injuries lately and you’re going Well, daily training gives you that intensity that makes you compete.
