Blink announces artist lineup for the 2024 Festival of Lights

CINCINNATI — BLINK, the nation’s largest public art and projection mapping exhibition, has announced the artists who will contribute to this year’s exhibition.

What do you want to know

  • BLINK is a biennial art and light show in Cincinnati
  • BLINK will take place October 17-20
  • BLINK has selected over 80 artists, national and international, to present their work at this year’s festival.
  • Nearly 30 of these artists are local

Molly Berrens, president of Spotted Yeti, said she had so many ideas in mind to bring a mural to life.

This will be Berrens and his team’s third time participating in the BLINK festival, serving as a featured projection artist. This year, they will illuminate a mural created by Amsterdam-based artist group London Police for Blink Festival 2019.

She said: “One of the distinctive features of their works are these superimposed figures. I believe in this scene they are called squeeze lads because they are underwater. As you can see, there are a very recognizable siren that we hope to activate.”

Spotted Yeti is just one of more than 80 artists selected to create 100 installations of projection maps, murals, and interactive light and art sculptures.

BLINK Executive Director Justin Brookhart said he couldn’t be more excited to expand BLINK to Northern Kentucky and work with artists on both sides of the river.

Brookhart said, “We work with a lot of new artists every year, and we work with people like Spot and Yeti, who are coming back for the third time to participate in the event. So for us, it’s about, you know, finding projects that we’re passionate about, finding artists that we’re passionate about and helping create art that we hope the people of Cincinnati will enjoy , in northern Kentucky, in October.

Berrens says being part of BLINK is like a dream.

She said: “It’s indescribable. The first night of both blinks in 2019 and 2022, when you see it light up for the first time with your team after months of hard work, it’s just awesome to see.

In a few months, Spotted Yeti and all the other artists will literally and metaphorically light up the sky.
