Angers Nantes Opéra announces a new artistic and general director

Alexandra Lacroix has been appointed new general and artistic director of Angers Nantes Opéra.

She will succeed Alain Surans as of September 1, 2024. Lacroix will assume the role of full-time general and artistic director as of January 1, 2026.

Lacroix is ​​co-founder of Cie MPDA and she wrote the libretto and directed “L’Affaire Carmen” and “Be My Superstar”, both in collaboration with the ENOA network of the Aix-en-Provence Festival.

The announcement was made following a jury meeting on June 12. The jury was made up of Johanna Rolland, mayor of Nantes; Jean-Marc Verchère, mayor of Angers; and Nicolas Dufetel, president of Angers Nantes Opéra.
