Message from Massachusetts to border officials: “Our shelters are full”

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – As record numbers of immigrant families continue to arrive in Massachusetts, Governor Healey sends members of his administration to the southern border of the United States.

Their goal is to meet with, among others, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials and brief them on the state’s immigration issues.

It is also to make immigrant families understand that the shelters in Massachusetts are full.

The five-person team is led by State Emergency Assistance Executive Director Scott Rice.

Working with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, the team will hold meetings in Texas with representatives from four of the most common points of entry for families crossing the border.

Members of non-governmental organizations and migrant families will also participate in some of the meetings.
