Pat Tillman’s mother criticizes decision to honor Prince Harry with her son’s award

ESPN said the Duke of Sussex was chosen for the honor in recognition of his “tireless work to positively impact the veteran community through the power of sport” by founding the Invictus Games, “creating an international platform to support wounded, injured and ill service members, both active duty and veterans, who struggle with physical and invisible wounds.”

Prince Harry served in the British armed forces for 10 years, including two tours in Afghanistan as a helicopter pilot, and helped launch the Invictus Games, a Paralympic-style sporting event for the military, in 2014. This one is for our entire military community,” Harry said after learning of the upcoming honor at the 2024 ESPYs.
